Self-catering Accommodation near Hay-on-Wye

Welcome

This detached farmhouse, which dates back to the 16th century, is surrounded by open countryside on our 400 acre working family farm. You can be sure of a warm welcome at the Trowley Farmhouse; we love where we live and will do all that we can to ensure you get the most out of your stay with us. On arrival you will find the farmhouse all made up and ready for you to use; wood burner lit in the chilly months, and homemade cake on the table so that you can put the kettle on and relax straight away.

The Trowley Farmhouse is situated in absolute peace and quiet in an unspoilt superb location at the end of a private lane; secluded but not isolated. The farmhouse is ideal for getting friends and families together; there is space to socialise with the 2 sitting rooms and large farmhouse kitchen; space to have fun with a private garden, nearby orchards and fields, and most importantly there is space to simply relax.

The farmhouse is a must for nature lovers. Red kites and buzzards are often spotted, and up on Painscastle common (20 minute walk) red grouse and curlew breed. Nearby is Rhosgoch Bog, a conservation area which is a birdwatchers' paradise. On the 'Roundabout' on the Begwyns, on a clear day there are absolutely spectacular views and you can see seven counties.

Oak beams, thick stone walls and original bread oven in the large farmhouse kitchen retain much of the character of the original building, whilst every modern convenience is provided to make your stay comfortable whatever the season.

There is an enclosed gravel area at the rear of the house and a large private garden and lawn at the front and side. There is garden furniture and a barbecue. Ample parking space for 5 or more cars, and an outside building for bicycles in the summer, and sledges in the winter! You can enjoy extensive views of the Begwyn Hills and can see the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, along with woodland and wildlife.
